Aston Villa have identified a new transfer target with weeks remaining of the summer window, with the target sharing the same agency as Ross Barkley.

Former loanee Barkley has returned to Villa Park, this time on a permanent basis and to work with Unai Emery after an impressive individual campaign with Luton Town last season. Speaking after losing Barkley, Luton boss Rob Edwards said:

"We are disappointed to see Ross go, but we completely understand it and he leaves with our best wishes and thanks. It was great to work with him for a season. He was amazing, provided lots of good memories for us all and the supporters fell in love with him, but I'm sure everyone will understand the opportunity.

"Playing in the Premier League is important for Ross, as is Champions League football. He still wants to play for England and believes this gives him the best chance to do so."

Alongside Barkley, Villa have splashed the cash on the likes of Amadou Onana from Everton and Ian Maatsen from Chelsea.

However, they may not be finished there. A bid has reportedly been made for AS Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante, but a new target abroad has now emerged.

Aston Villa eyeing Lutsharel Geertruida move

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa now have their eyes on signing Lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord. Those in the Midlands aren’t alone, though, with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig also keen on the Dutch defender.

Geertruida is 24 years of age and is primarily a right-back who can also play as a centre-back and even as a holding midfielder if required. A Netherlands international, Geertruida has been on the books with Feyenoord since 2012, turning professional in 2018. Since then, the defender has gone on to make 199 senior appearances for his current employers, with his Transfermarkt valuation standing at a career-high €35m back in December.

Now dropping down to €32m, Geertruida, described as a "hero" by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig, also shares the same Wasserman agency as summer signing Barkley. Kulig noted his composure, anticipation, pace, athleticism, tackling, intercepting and versatility as very strong attributes when he was still a teenager, so Villa could be onto a winner if they manage to secure Geertruida’s services.

So far this summer, Tottenham and Liverpool have been linked with the Feyenoord star, who is valued at around £25m by the Dutch club, and by the looks of things, a move to Villa Park is one to watch.

Everton Football Club have had a busy transfer window so far in the summer of 2024. The Toffees are looking to improve their squad so they can climb the table and ensure they steer well clear of the relegation zone next campaign. In the last couple of seasons, Sean Dyche’s men have been dragged into the scarp to survive in the Premier League.

So far this summer, the Toffees have spent £42.9m and have added four new signings to their squad. However, this was all funded by a major outgoing, specifically Amadou Onana who joined Aston Villa for £50m. Ben Godfrey and Lewin Dobbin also left the club.

In terms of their incomings, Everton have brought in three players on a permanent deal and one on loan. Two of those signings came from France; Jake O’Brien signed from Olympique Lyon and Iliman Ndiaye joined from Olympique Marseille. The other permanent signing was Tim Iroegbunam who swapped Villa Park for Goodison Park. The Toffees also signed Jesper Lindstrom on a loan to buy deal from Napoli.

Although they have made a positive start to the window, the Merseyside club might not be done there, with just under three weeks to go. They have recently been linked with one Championship player who can add attacking firepower to their squad.

Latest on Everton’s Gnonto pursuit

The player in question here is Leeds United and Italy winger Wilfried Gnonto. The 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a move with a move away from Elland Road ever since their relegation from the Premier League two seasons ago. He could now leave this summer after they failed to win promotion last term.

According to a report from Football Insider, the Toffees are ‘have been long-term admirers of the Italian winger’, and could move to sign him again this summer after failing to acquire his services in 2023, despite the Italian going on strike to attempt to force a move through.

The report confirmed the 20-year-old’s price this summer, which currently stands at £25m. It is a fee that would be accepted by the Yorkshire club if the Toffees manage to place a bid before the deadline at the end of August. However, it is not a guarantee they have the funds to do so.

Gnonto showed flashes of brilliance last season in one of the toughest leagues in European football, the Championship. The former Inter academy player managed to cement a starting spot under Daniel Farke last season after a tough start to the campaign. He scored eight goals and grabbed two assists as Leeds limped to a third-place finish, and also managed to get an assist in the play-offs.

Whilst the 13-time Italy international is highly valued by Leeds, there are players the Toffees could move on to afford the 20-year-old this summer who are valued at a higher price. One of those is star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

With less than one year left on his contract at Goodison Park, a departure from Everton for Calvert-Lewin cannot be ruled out this summer. He came close to joining Newcastle United, but that deal fell through, with the Daily Mail reporting a fee of £35m was needed for the Magpies to sign the striker.

Should Everton manage to sell the England international for anywhere close to that price, it would represent excellent profit for the striker. He cost the Toffees just £1.54m from Sheffield United back in August 2016.

Not only that, the £35m fee would allow the Merseysiders to afford Gnonto, their main transfer target, this summer, rather than having to delay any potential move for the 20-year-old for another summer.

It is perhaps unsurprising that Calvert-Lewin, who earns £100k per week, as per Capology, is valued so highly by the Toffees. He is a crucial player for Dyche, scoring seven goals and grabbing two assists in the Premier League last season. That is the third-best top-flight return of his career, with the striker scoring 13 goals in 2019/20 and 16 goals in 2020/21.

He is also their fourth highest goalscorer in the Premier League for Everton and is only one of four players to have scored 50 or more top-flight goals for the club. A record like that led football talent scout Jacek Kulig to call him a "monster" of a centre-forward.

However, it may be a necessary sale given the fact he has one year left on his deal, so Everton can make a large profit and reinvest the money to help them climb the table further.

O Sport começou o jogo martelando o Santos e tentando aproveitar os erros do sistema defensivo, principalmente de Wagner Palha, novamente muito nervoso. A primeira chance clara de gol, no entanto, foi do Peixe, com Raniel obrigando o goleiro Mailson a fazer boa defesa aos 11 minutos.

O Santos melhorou e passou a marcar mais presença no campo ofensivo, mas o baixo rendimento de Sánchez e Raniel, além da inoperância ofensiva de Marcos Guilherme na ala direita, atrapalharam a construção das jogadas. Lucas Braga, mesmo sem cacoete de ala, chegou a criar bons lances individuais pela esquerda, chegando até a acertar a trave de Mailson.

A equipe voltou para o segundo tempo desligada, e sofrendo com a pressão do Sport, principalmente nas jogadas aéreas. Jandrei, que ainda não havia sido testado, apareceu bem para evitar o gol em duas oportunidades.

Carille resolveu mexer por atacado, desmontou o esquema com três zagueiros e mandou a campo Madson, Felipe Jonatan e Tardelli nos lugares de Marcos Guilherme, Wagner Palha e Raniel.

As mexidas não surtiram o efeito necessário, e o time não incomodou mais o goleiro Mailson até o apito final do árbitro Anderson Daronco, a não ser em um chute fraco de Lucas Braga. Menos mal que o ponto conquistado levou o time aos 29, e novamente fora do Z4.

According to transfer insider Graeme Bailey, West Ham are interested in signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Besiktas this summer, with the 31-year-old also on the radar of multiple Premier League suitors.

The former Arsenal and Liverpool star has been deemed expendable with his Turkish side, and could now return to his homeland and complete Lopetegui's midfield.

What Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would bring to West Ham

Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Besiktas after his contract with Liverpool expired at the end of the 2022/23 campaign, having completed 148 appearances, notably winning the Premier League and Champions League.

Once hailed as a "Rolls-Royce" midfielder by one-time Anfield teammate Rhian Brewster, the 35-cap England international is as talented as they come but has been ravaged by injuries, albeit coming through the storm to put up some impressive numbers over the past year.

Ferocious ball-striking, intelligent movements and potency in front of goal suggest that he could be the perfect addition to the West Ham project, and while Carlos Soler is the number-one target for the Hammers, Oxlade-Chamberlain must be top of the list otherwise.

Soler has enjoyed two seasons with Paris Saint-Germain but has only started 26 league fixtures in that timeframe and has been deemed surplus to requirements under Luis Enrique.

West Ham are "leading the race" for the 27-year-old's signature, but Steidten is a top-class businessman and he will be aware that other parties are interested, and that Oxlade-Chamberlain could be a shrewd alternative.

In fact, when collating the players' performances over the past year, in the Turkish Super Lig and Ligue 1 respectively, it's easy to discern some similar patterns.

Soler probably edges it in regard to goalscoring and the consistency of his creativity – a better ball player, perhaps. Oxlade-Chamberlain, conversely, operates in a more dynamic and energetic manner, eclipsing his Spanish counterpart in dribbling.

It's that level of progression that could bear dividends for a West Ham side that has plenty of industriousness and technical talent in the middle of the park, but could do with a penetrative presence not named Mohammed Kudus.

Therefore, Oxlade-Chamberlain would be a fine addition to Lopetegui's regime, probably not set to start every week, should he sign on, but holding the attacking properties to make a real difference – perhaps even more so than Soler.

وحسبما ذكرت صحيفة “آس” الإسبانية، فإن ريال مدريد سيتوجب عليه توخي الحذر في مباراة الذهاب ضد مانشستر سيتي، بسبب 6 لاعبين.

وأوضحت أن هناك 6 لاعبين من ريال مدريد قد يُجبرون على الغياب عن مباراة الإياب ضد مانشستر سيتي، حال حصولهم على بطاقة صفراء في الذهاب.

وأشارت إلى أن هؤلاء اللاعبين هم، جود بيلينجهام، أنطونيو روديجر، لوكا مودريتش، تشواميني، إندريك وإدوارد كامافينجا.

وأفادت أنه عند النظر إلى الجهة الأخرى، مانشستر سيتي، سنجد أن لاعبًا واحدًا فقط مهدد بالغياب حال حصوله على بطاقة صفراء وهو روبن دياز، والذي قد لا يدفع به بيب جوارديولا في الذهاب.

وتُقام مباراة الذهاب بين ريال مدريد ومانشستر سيتي على ملعب “الاتحاد”، في حين أن الإياب على ملعب “سانتياجو برنابيو”.
