Manchester United fans react to Luke Shaw’s new deal

[ad_pod ]

Five-year contract and a wad of cash in his pocket, Luke Shaw will be a happy man after Manchester United tied his long-term future down.

The Southampton youth product has not had the greatest of times since his move to the Theatre of Dreams, predominantly thanks to his horror leg break, but also because of the relationships he’s had with his managers.

Jose Mourinho had a very tough-love approach with the 23-year-old, as did Louis van Gaal before that, with the Dutch manager putting the left-back on a strict diet thanks to Shaw’s love of sweets, crisps, biscuits and fizzy drinks.

Some fans even fat shamed the Kingston upon Thames lad after he was pictured enjoying the summer break in Ibiza.

Now, though, those supporters are singing to his tune after the England international penned a new five-year contract that sees him earn a whopping £195,000-a-week – making him the club’s fifth-highest earner.

Some fans are also calling out others over Mourinho’s impact on Shaw.

But for some, the left-back’s mega wage is a sticking point.

West Ham United linked with January swoop for Almiron, fans react

West Ham United have their fair share of injury problems that are affecting the middle third of their team.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini is without Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez, and now, winger Andriy Yarmolenko is expected to be on the sidelines for six months with an Achilles problem.

This may cause the club to dip into the transfer market when it reopens in January.

Already, reports have emerged claiming that the Hammers are leading the race for Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron.

According to TYC Sports, the MLS club have lined up a move for Gonzalo Martinez as they believe that Almiron will join West Ham in the winter.

The 24-year-old, who has been capped 13 times by Paraguay, has made 65 appearances for Atlanta since joining the club in 2016.

In that time the attack-minded star has scored 21 goals and created 21 assists.

It is fair to say that the Premier League is a much more competitive division than that in the United States, but some West Ham fans have been left impressed by Almiron’s qualities.

Latest fiasco highlights the mess at Newcastle United

Thankfully for Newcastle United fans, Jamaal Lascelles was signed to a new six-year deal but following the announcement of his new contract, the former Nottingham Forest man got himself into hot water when he described Mike Ashley as a ‘nice guy’.

Club captain Lascelles has become a cult hero at the club not just for his solid performances on the pitch but also for the way he has led the team since Benitez’s arrival.

However, his recent praise of the oft-maligned owner has received criticism from Newcastle fans who have been unhappy at how Ashley has run the club.

Rafael Benitez was forced to support today and with the manager now choosing to echo, his captain’s statement, it shows that Newcastle are even more of a mess than first thought.

The Breakdown

Following a summer where Ashley failed to invest in the club, the fans were suitable angry at the owner and to make things worse, The Magpies have made a terrible start to the season and currently sit 19th, with only three points and have only scored six goals this year.

While Lascelles has been handed a new long-term deal, Benitez’s contract is still due to run out next year and as of yet, it seems unlikely that he’ll sign a new one.

Today Newcastle face Watford in a game where they’ll be underdogs. Next weekend they face the surprise package of this season in Bournemouth who will probably be too much for Benitez’s men to handle.

It’s been a tough season for the club and the recent fiasco over Lascelles’ comments shows that it’s not going to get better anytime soon.

Arsenal fans react to Emile Smith-Rowe’s performance vs Blackpool

[ad_pod ]

Emile Smith-Rowe is the name on every Arsenal fan’s lips after the teenager bagged his first goal at the Emirates Stadium and his second for the first team in a 2-1 victory over Blackpool in the Carabao Cup.

Croydon born Smith-Rowe has been in the youth system at Arsenal since 2010 and, upon breaking through to the first team squad this season, his first competitive appearance came in the Europa League against Vorskla Poltava where he was brought on for Alex Iwobi. Since, the 6 foot attacking midfielder has taken only 198 minutes to score his first two goals in red and white and is looking like the real deal.

In an interview with Goal, the 18-year-old said that he aspires to be of a similar mould to Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, but some Gunners fans are drawing different comparisons. With Aaron Ramsey set to depart in the summer as his contract runs down, have Arsenal got a budding replacement waiting in the wings?

Here’s how the Arsenal faithful reacted to the young star’s performance and his potential in the side.

Liverpool fans want Moreno gone after fresh exit link

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to the latest transfer rumour, as Sevilla are reportedly interested in re-signing Alberto Moreno.

According to reports, Sevilla are monitoring the situation of Moreno, and the player himself is interested in a return to his old club.

The 26-year-old has fallen by the wayside since Andy Robertson broke into the team, and will be out of contract at the end of the season.

Extending his contract would ensure a hefty transfer fee when he is sold, so it is quite a surprise to see the Reds just allow him to leave for free next year.

This means that teams in Europe could make a pre-contract agreement with the player in January, and Sevilla are looking to be first in line.

The flying Spaniard of course signed from Sevilla for Brendan Rodgers back in 2014, and his Liverpool career has been riddled with mistakes.

Revealed: Just 29% of Leeds fans would support a January move for Swansea’s Daniel James

[ad_pod ]

The majority of Leeds fans that answered our recent poll said that they would not support a move for Swansea winger Daniel James, after Football Insider reported that Marcelo Bielsa had given the green light to pursue a deal.

The initial report stated that the 21-year-old Welshman would be out of contract at the Liberty Stadium come the end of this season, but this has been rebuffed by WalesOnline, who revealed that the youngster is actually under contract until the summer of 2020.

However, with four assists in 11 appearances for Swansea and a call up to the Welsh national side under Ryan Giggs, it is clear to see why the Whites are interested in James.

Leeds fans though are clearly not convinced, and 71 per cent of those that answered our recent poll said that they would not support a move for the young winger, potentially because they have one of their own already in 17-year-old Jack Clarke.

Leeds fans react as Brown suffers possible setback

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Leeds fans have been reacting to a spree of updates on the fitness of Izzy Brown, after the midfielder missed his comeback match on Monday.

Brown was expected to play a full 90 minutes for the first time on Monday as Leeds’ Under-23 side visited Sheffield United.

The 21 year-old was nowhere to be seen though, and fans are praying it’s not another setback for the summer signing.

Which team is the dominant force in London right now? Playmaker FC’s Tom Skinner has a very unpopular opinion on the matter. Check it out in the video below…

The Chelsea starlet injured his knee while on loan with Brighton in January, and the Whites’ move to sign him this summer was slightly bizarre considering the he was nowhere near full fitness.

One report claimed he wasn’t even with the squad for Monday’s Under-23 clash, but Phil Hay of The Yorkshire Evening Post has since reported he is set to take part in Friday’s cup match against Newcastle.

While there is nothing concrete on whether the midfielder has suffered what would be a devastating setback, fans are worried over his mysterious absence.

Liverpool fans want club to sign Lyon’s Cornet following display against Manchester City

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool’s attack is not in need of drastic improvements given that they have Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in their ranks.

However, the team have lacked the flair and tenacity that earned them so many plaudits last season.

Due to the demand of the domestic season, the Reds may want to consider recruiting some additional forwards to cope with the workload and keep Jurgen Klopp’s front three on their toes.

On Tuesday night, plenty of Liverpool fans were impressed by the efforts of Lyon striker Maxwel Cornet.

The 22-year-old shone against English champions Manchester City by scoring twice in a 2-2 draw in the Champions League.

Lyon took the game to Pep Guardiola – an approach that not many opposing sides have made when going head to head with City.

If you haven’t seen Patrice Evra’s bizarre new Instagram post then you need to check out the video below…

In total this season, Cornet has found the back of the net six times in 15 appearances in all competitions, but he has only started five of them.

On Twitter, some Liverpool fans urged the club to make a move for the youngster, while others simply admired his skill against City.

Opinion: Tottenham could land the next Christian Eriksen with deal for Hannes Wolf

Tottenham Hotspur have been graced with the presence of one of the Premier League’s most talented playmakers in Christian Eriksen, but a recent report suggests that Daniel Levy is plotting a bid for a talented wonderkid who has the potential to emulate the great Dane.

Tottenham’s midfield magician has consistently amazed supporters with his genius vision and game-changing quality since he signed for the club in 2013.

Mauricio Pochettino has been widely credited for the extent of Tottenham’s progress in recent years, and rightly so, but without Eriksen providing creativity and guile in midfield it’s unlikely that the club would have established themselves as one of the Premier League’s elite clubs.

At 26-years-old Eriksen is hardly in need of replacing, but Daniel Levy will be acutely aware of the pressing need to sign a player to follow in his footsteps in the event that he refuses to extend his current contract, which expires in 2020.

With that being said, it is of little surprise that Spurs are reportedly one of four clubs monitoring the situation of RB Salzburg star, Hannes Wolf, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 19-year-old is still operating within the early stages of his development, but his total return of 16 goals and 18 assists from 70 appearances for the Austrian giants suggests that he possesses the potential to go right to the very top of European football.

Wolf has been a mainstay in Salzburg’s attacking midfield both domestically and in Europe this season, and the fact he is already making a decisive impact in the Europa League should silence those sceptics who believe his record in Austria must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Standing at 5’10” and boasting a lean physique, Wolf’s physical presence is comparable to that of Eriksen.

His playing style, however, has one key difference: Both Eriksen and Wolf are at their scintillating best in a number ten role, but Wolf’s dynamism gives him an advantage in wide positions.

But that can only be viewed as a positive factor to consider for Pochettino, as Wolf’s versatility will help him to slot into Tottenham’s free-flowing system.

Wolf has also been praised for his immense work-ethic on the field of play, something which Eriksen is practically renowned for in north London, and that will certainly be giving Pochettino reason to believe that the 19-year-old can transfer his form from Austria to England.

If Tottenham can fend off competition and win the race for Wolf’s signature, the Lilywhites faithful might just be looking at the next Eriksen.
